Choose your total before the gifts
Set one holiday total you are comfortable with. Include gifts, travel, food, wrapping, and postage if those are part of the same budget. It is fine to make the celebration smaller.
Give the little costs a place
Reserve money for shipping, wrapping, and unexpected expenses. An example $500 gift budget might reserve $50 for extras and allocate $450 to gifts. These are planning assumptions, not recommended spending levels.
Plan by person
Add everyone to your list, then decide what you want to spend on each person. A thoughtful note or shared experience belongs on the list too. Similar affection does not require identical price tags.
Keep planned and paid separate
Before purchase, enter an estimated all-in cost. After purchase, replace it with the actual total and mark the gift purchased. Do not count the same item as both planned and spent.
Leave the leftover money alone
Budget remaining is flexibility, not a prompt to spend more. Your Budget Saver separates available money from what you have already committed.
